We had a wonderful experience at Gyu San. We came for an early dinner around 4pm. The service was wonderful. Our server was friendly and attentive- she came back several times throughout the meal to ask if we wanted to order more. We opted for the Diamond ACYE option, so that we could try the Japanese wagyu. We ordered several dishes, including the Japanese wagyu strip loin and short rib, the American wagyu short rib and loin, lobster tails, a few pieces of nigiri, Wagyu fried rice, filet mignon, spicy miso shrimp, butter miso mussels, and garlic cucumber. Everything was delicious. The Japanese Wagyu came out first and was presented beautifully. Our server offered to cook this for us. Other standouts from the meal were the Wagyu fried rice, American Wagyu short rib, and the lobster. My husband loved the mussels as well. Of course, this meal was pricey, but I think it is worth the price, especially if you're celebrating a special occasion.
Heard this place recently offers AYCE Wagyu I figure I will try it out. Since we have a big snow storm earlier this week, I figure I won't have trouble of getting a table without reservation. When we got there, we are the only one with the exception of one person at the bar. We were quickly seated and looked over the menu. There are three menus. One for AYCE which has 3 tiers, one for a la carte, and one for alcohols. We decided to get the top tier, Diamond, for $98. This gives us one selection of Japanese Wagyu, 1 Lobster tail, but unlimited for the rest. Service - our waitress was great(sorry forgot her name). Our food came out quickly and dirty plates were picked up quickly also. Food - Everything looks fresh. The lobster tail is decent in size. It came out marinated. The Japanese Wagyu is good also. The American Wagyu is decent, it does not have the same fatty taste as the Japanese ones. The only thing that wasn't good was the Wagyu fried rice. We had better elsewhere. The Miso clams is a must try IMO. We also love the Oysters. Very nice size and plump. We also ordered a few Sushi, Wagyu Nigiri and Sea breeze Roll. Both are good. You need to try the Wagyu Sandwich. It is very good also. The Blazing shrimps were decent. Ambience - Heard the place is recently remodeled which is a surprise to me since they only 1.5 years old. It is nice and clean. The place is small though so can't seat too many people. The only reason why I gave 4 stars is because of the price. I guess I was spoiled out in Vegas where I had a similar AYCE Japanese BBQ for much less and the food seems to be much fresher. I don't know many places around here that offers AYCE that has Japanese Wagyu. Would I come back? Probably not. I just want to try this new place out.
We got the Silver option. Everything was great, brisket was amazing. The service was a bit slow and got our orders wrong but they corrected it. We definitely got our money worth with the AYCE option instead of a la carte. Would come back when I get a chance.
The dining experience was truly remarkable! I made a reservation for my husband's birthday lunch, and our initial visit was outstanding. Upon our arrival, we were promptly seated, and the server demonstrated exceptional attentiveness and professionalism. The atmosphere evoked the charm of an upscale DIY BBQ setting. One aspect I particularly appreciated was the slow-cooked preparation of the dishes. Lastly, I must highlight the food. It far surpassed my expectations, and I am eager to return. The only minor drawback was the parking situation, which is understandable given the central location in Arlington.
Run, don't walk to Gyu San! This is hands down the best AYCE in NOVA in terms of quality and selection! Do yourself a favor a get the AYCE Wagyu! It's a bit more expensive but it high end and the selection of sushi, sides and appetizers are amazing. The meats melts in your mouth. I asked for salt to sprinkle on my meats and it definitely elevated even more. I recommend the blazing shrimp, butter miso clams, allllll the wagyu, lobster, oyster, nigiri, wagyu fried rice, passionfruit crepe cake and taiyaki with matcha ice cream, plus anything else your heart desires.
My friends and I had an AMAZING time at dinner here! The Halloween decorations were very cute and the ambiance at the restaurant was calm yet fun. It was our first time trying out Japanese barbecue, so we went for the four person package that allows you to try a little bit of everything. The appetizers were all super ta. We loved the array of different meats. Briskets, sirloin, ribeye, pork belly and chicken. We were not disappointed by a single bite. Our waitress Ali was so friendly, informative and a great help to us as first timers. We will definitely be back!
Okay this made it in the top 5 of my kbbq/kbbq in the DMV. We came here for my bday which btw you get the silver or gold option for free on the day of. I love how in the AYCE that it includes sushi, appetizer, sides, and dishes. We loved the fries, katsu, cucumber salad, and salmon avocado sushi. We honestly got the entire menu and thought everything tasted amazing. There is meat is really high quality. You do cook it yourself and they help you. The chuck flap, short ribs, scallops, and top blade was what we kept ordering! I highly recommend coming here for special occasions like your birthday!
